This milestone reflects devicethread's continued expansion across independent hotels, where easing day-to-day operations can make a meaningful difference for owner-operated teams.

Simplifying Access at a Coastal Highway 1 Landmark

Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant & Inn, a recently renovated property known for live music, honest food, and a good night's rest just north of Santa Cruz, needed a simpler way to manage guest access without adding operational overhead or relying heavily on front-desk presence throughout the day.

With SmartAccess, Roadhouse now offers guests a smooth, self-serve check-in experience, reducing manual access workflows and reception dependency, so the team can stay focused on the restaurant, live music, and events the property is known for. The rollout brought the property's total to 11 devices, with 9 newly added to support the deployment, all using the property's existing lock hardware to avoid the cost and disruption of a full hardware replacement.

SmartAccess was also integrated directly with Davenport Roadhouse's existing Cloudbeds PMS, allowing guest access to sync seamlessly with reservations and check-in data.

The deployment was managed entirely by the property's own team, reflecting how straightforward the SmartAccess onboarding process can be even for a small, self-managed inn.
